CMS Releases Long Awaited Revised Home Health Medicare Cost Report Forms – 1728-20

In the Spring of 2019, The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) started the process of revising the Medicare Cost Report forms with a public comment period. A second comment period was open in February and March of 2020. At the time, the revised forms (CMS Form 1728-19) were to be effective for cost reporting periods beginning on or after July 1, 2019.
Today, Friday, October 2nd, CMS has released the revised cost report forms in final form with accompanying instructions. The form is now called the CMS Form 1728-20 and is effective for cost reporting periods beginning on or after January 1, 2020 and ending on or after December 31, 2020.
