The South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc. ruling, which overturned the physical presence requirement for state sales and use tax purposes, is having an impact on how taxpayers need to think about their other tax obligations as well. Now is the time companies need to be proactive around Wayfair by identifying and setting in place processes and procedures to comply with these still evolving obligations.
Join us on Thursday, July 18th as VonLehman’s Robin Teeters and Dave Walls explain what’s occurred since the decision came down last June. They will be joined by Jay Voss, Controller with Sterling Cut Glass, who will walk attendees through how post-Wayfair nexus considerations impacted his company and the steps Sterling Cut Glass took to comply.
Learning objectives
- An overview on what the decision entails and why it matters
- A discussion around whether or not your internal systems are able to comply with Wayfair
- Best practices around selecting sales tax calculation and/or compliance software
- What happens if your most recent acquisition put you in a new jurisdiction
- Thoughts on the future state of remote sellers
- The reach of Wayfair beyond sales and use tax into income, franchise and gross receipts taxes
