(CINCINNATI, OH) – In celebration of its 70th Anniversary, VonLehman, a regional CPA and business advisory firm, will launch a new community outreach initiative. Nearly 130 VonLehman professionals will spend August 19, 2016 supporting six nonprofit organizations with both manual and intellectual labor. The nonprofits include FreeStore FoodBank, People Working Cooperatively, Ronal McDonald House, Southside Animal Shelter, Stepping Stones and Welcome House. This will be the first VL Cares Make a Difference Day, but VonLehman anticipates it being an annual event.
“Corporate citizenship and philanthropy are core values at VonLehman. All of us will be out there ‘Making a Difference’ in our communities, says Brian Malthouse, President of VonLehman. “Our firm has programs all year whereby we contribute to dozens of organizations, but VL Cares Make a Difference Day is our celebration of all that makes our communities great.”
Between the three VonLehman offices in Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana, VL Cares Make a Difference Day will serve six nonprofit agencies directly on August 19th. Says Debbie Thornberry, Chair of VonLehman’s VL Cares Committee, “Concentrating this year on organizations that focus on poverty issues and the issues of women and children, the VL Cares Committee is proud to launch this important annual event for our firm.” According to Thornberry, VonLehman annually contributes over $70,000 in direct employee contributions and firm matching funds to various nonprofit organizations throughout the region.
The projects to be completed by VonLehman employees include:
- Pack power packs at FreeStore FoodBank in Cincinnati
- Landscaping at Stepping Stones in Cincinnati
- Pack hygiene resource bags at Welcome House in Northern Kentucky
- House repairs at People Working Cooperatively in Northern Kentucky
- Prepare casseroles at Ronald McDonald House in Indianapolis
- Cleaning and landscape work at Southside Animal Shelter in Indianapolis
“Our communities support us both as a firm and as individuals, and we wanted to give back to our communities. This is our way of expressing our acknowledgement, our care and our appreciation of that support by making a difference on August 19th and the days and years to follow,” said Thornberry.
